Amplifying Leadership and Global Influence through Social Media
CONTEXT
The Game Changers Forum was created to bring together influential leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers to inspire new perspectives on leadership, innovation and business transformation. Over successive editions, the event evolved into a prominent platform for exchanging ideas and connecting decision-makers, culminating in its sixth edition, held at Lisbon’s MEO Arena on October 10, 2026, with former US President Barack Obama as its headline speaker.
With an internationally recognised figure at the centre of the programme, the event presented an exceptional opportunity to strengthen its digital identity, expand its reach and engage audiences beyond the physical venue.
CHALLENGE
The challenge was to develop and execute a dynamic social media strategy capable of matching the scale, ambition and international visibility of an event featuring one of the world’s most recognisable public figures. This required building anticipation ahead of the forum, translating a diverse programme of speakers and discussions into compelling digital content, and maintaining a consistent and engaging narrative across the event’s communication channels.
A key priority was to leverage Barack Obama’s participation while ensuring that the Game Changers Forum retained its own identity as a platform for leadership, inspiration and meaningful connections. From speaker announcements and promotional campaigns to real-time event coverage and post-event storytelling, the strategy needed to turn a high-profile gathering into a broader digital experience.
IMPACT
The social media strategy helped amplify the visibility of the Game Changers Forum, extending the event’s narrative beyond the MEO Arena and reinforcing its positioning within Portugal’s leadership and business community. The combination of speaker-driven storytelling, engaging visual content and event-focused communications created opportunities to generate anticipation, encourage interaction and showcase the scale of the initiative.
Barack Obama’s participation provided a powerful focal point for digital conversations, while content highlighting the wider programme, speakers and event experience contributed to building recognition for the Game Changers brand.
Between July and October 2026, the social media strategy generated over 1.88 million impressions, 59.134 interactions and 8.294 new followers across LinkedIn and Instagram. LinkedIn recorded 244.589 impressions, 38.843 interactions and 3.129 new followers, demonstrating its relevance in engaging professional audiences. Meanwhile, Instagram achieved 1.644.218 impressions, 20.291 interactions and 5.165 new followers, playing a key role in expanding the event’s digital reach and growing its community.
The project demonstrated how strategic social media management can transform a major live event into a wider communication platform, connecting audiences, amplifying influential voices and creating opportunities for engagement beyond the event itself. These results reinforce the impact of a multi-platform strategy in strengthening brand awareness, driving meaningful interactions and extending the visibility of Game Changers beyond the event.
